ComponentsThe parts that make up a crane.
From the hoist to the wheel, from the rail profile to the attachment: what each component does, what it determines, and where to look during maintenance.
Components
Electric Wire Rope HoistA hoisting unit that lifts with a steel wire rope. The standard choice at moderate-to-high tonnage and high lifting height.Electric Chain HoistA compact hoisting unit that lifts with a calibrated chain. Common at low-to-moderate tonnage on jib cranes and monorail lines.Crane TrolleyThe unit that carries the hoist and moves across the bridge. The part that sets the hook approach distance.End Carriage and Wheel AssemblyThe assembly that lets the crane travel on the rail. Flange wear is usually the first sign of a runway problem.Crane Rail and Fastening SystemsThe special rail profile the crane wheels run on, and the fastening elements attaching it to the supporting girder.Radio Remote and Control SystemsPendant control, radio remote control and an operator cabin. Where the operator sees the load from directly affects safety.Hooks, Lifting Beams and AttachmentsThe point where the load connects to the crane. The wrong attachment makes even a correctly chosen crane impractical.Transfer CartA motorised cart that carries loads on a ground-level rail. Moves between sections without tying up a crane.
