Terminology and specification
Technical specifications in the Russia and CIS market use their own standard terminology. The same concept being named differently can lead to the wrong dimension being used in manufacturing.
That's why terms need to be fixed mutually at the start of correspondence. Our six-language technical glossary on the site can be used directly for this.
Cold-climate equipment
Low temperature affects both the mechanical and electrical sides of a crane. Grease loses its consistency, some steels become brittle, condensation and freezing problems appear in panels.
For these conditions, low-temperature grease, appropriate material selection, a heated and moisture-controlled panel, a suitable cable type and, where needed, a heated cabin are planned. The minimum operating temperature is information that must be asked at the quotation stage.
Transport and installation
| Topic | What needs planning |
|---|---|
| Minimum temperature | Determines material, grease, panel and cable selection |
| Terminology | Mutual fixing of specification terms |
| Transport | Envelope/gauge, split shipment, packaging, border crossings |
| Installation team | Visas, work permits, accommodation, site safety |
| Site equipment | Installation crane, scaffolding, welding and test equipment |
| Service | Remote support and on-site intervention plan |
| Spare parts | Extended critical parts list due to long distance |
Technical terms
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| GOST | The family of standards used in Russia and CIS countries. |
| Split shipment | Sending the crane in sections to be assembled on site. |
| Cold-climate equipment | Material and equipment selections made for operation at low temperature. |
| Envelope / gauge | The maximum dimensions that can be transported. |
Frequently asked questions
The specification arrived in Russian, how do we proceed?
First, terms are fixed mutually; critical dimensions (span, lifting height, hook approach) are confirmed on the drawing. This step shortens the correspondence and reduces the risk of error.
Is the crane assembled on site?
Usually, yes. Due to transport envelope limits, the girder and legs are sent in sections and assembled during on-site installation. This is part of installation planning.
